Below are four handy, basic techniques you can use and they’re pretty easy to implement. That said, they can make a major difference and professionals use these all the time.

This is to get you started not to overwhelm you at this stage.

Reduce Glare

If you don’t deliberately want it in your photo, glare is one of the problems in taking great photos. If you polarized lens though, this wont be a problem. But the truth is, you dont really need to have that to reduce glare in your photos.

Would you like a totally unique and inexpensive trick? Well, Im sure you have sunglasses. Yes! You can just hold your polarized glasses in front of your lenses and that should do the trick. Just be sure that the rims of it wont be in the photo!

Overexposure

To a beginners ears, this sounds like a big no-no. In some ways, it is. But overexposing is actually a good photography trick because it allows you to do a lot, in terms of digitally enhancing it. See, youre a beginner, having digital editing behind your back is a very good deal.

So how do you overexpose a photo?

1. Find an object that has the same distance as your main subject but with less exposure to light.

2. Press down the shutter button- slightly. This way, your camera will read and focus on the light that your secondary object has. Dont release the button.

3. Point your camera back to your main subject, frame it and release the shutter button.

Making a Portrait Shot

Taking a photograph of a person is easy- anybody can do it. But if you want to make a photograph of a person, then you better listen to this next photography trick.

The universal rule when it comes to portrait-style photos is to frame a few inches above the head until the shoulders. This frame would really make the portrait look nicer.

Action Shots

Now, normally, whenever someone would ask me about action shots, I would give two tips: knowledge on the activity to be photographed and some basic skills on action shots. These are skills that you can only develop through time and experience.

But as a beginner, here are some things that you should remember:

1. Take your time, be patient and be alert.

2. Your shutter speed should be at least 1/640.

3. As much as possible, shoot outdoors- light is important.

Ensure you have fun and I hope this helps in some way.
